Design a Digital Unit
This 1-DAY workshop is designed for teachers of Year 3-6 and 7-10.
As teachers become more familiar with digital learning, the challenge shifts from focusing on understanding and trialing new technology, to integrating it purposefully into units of work so that learning digitally becomes a part of our everyday teaching.
In this practical, hands on workshop, participants will be asked to select an upcoming topic for a year group at their school. They will then be guided and supported as they begin to design and develop a cloud based interactive, multimodal unit of work to take back to share with their staff and students. Participants will design the unit of work for their context, whether that be BYOD, or access to shared devices, or a computer lab.
During the workshop, participants will explore a wide range of fantastic Web2 tools, examine the features of technological fluency and discuss ways to successfully implement change in classrooms. They will also explore solutions to guide learners through their digital tasks. These will include workflow tools such as Google Classroom, iTunes U, Schoology, and web publishing tools including Google Sites and Weebly.
This Highly Accomplished Teacher level workshop is designed for teachers who are comfortable with technology, and work with colleagues to use current ICT to improve their teaching practice and make content relevant and meaningful.
Completing Design a Digital Unit will contribute 5 hours of NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Registered PD addressing 1.2.3, 2.2.3, 2.6.3 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Highly Accomplished Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
